Our top four favorite 2016 holiday entertaining tips
Since the holidays have started and we’ve been fielding numerous questions regarding the perfect pairing for your holiday meals. As a result, we have created a guide to answer your questions.
Regulars at our tasting room will find little surprise in our wine selection for guest arrival: our award-winning Sparkling Rosé. This is the first wine we serve when you visit our tasting room! This bright and beautiful sparkler makes for a festive welcome, especially when guests' palates are clean.
One of our favorite, easy to drink white wines, our 2015 Sauvignon Blanc from Sonoma Valley is a bright, crisp wine that will please any palate. It pairs perfectly with smoked meats, crudité platters, cheese, light salads and oysters. Keep a few bottles on ice during dinner, too, as it will be a nice wine for cream-based soups and Dungeness crab.
Our 2012 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel and 2013 Russian River Pinot Noir are two perfect red wines for the main course, whether it's turkey or prime rib. The rich, ripeness of our Zinfandel complements the deep savoury flavors of roasted turkey, spiced-infused stuffing, and delicious fresh mushrooms. Our Pinot Noir is also a perfect partner for juicy ham and succulent prime rib. Its delicate, floral and red berry notes also make it a great partner for cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, and green vegetables.
For the finale, offer guests two delicious options for their pies, puddings and cakes, specifically our 2013 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and 2012 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel. Our rich, well-balanced Chardonnay is a great pairing for classic pumpkin pie. With the right amount of oak and a touch of acid, it cuts through rich pumpkin flavors. Finally, our Zinfandel is one of our favorites to pair with delicious chocolate and berry cakes and pies, or elegant desserts such as poached pears.
